  1. This looks like your typical perlin noise domain warping to me.

I used this kind of effect once in an android live wallpaper: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.formisk.aliquidcloud.free

    1. Hi Heuristics. Thanks for mentioning the name - i found this cool article with an nice explanation: http://www.iquilezles.org/www/articles/warp/warp.htm

I'm not sure if it's that advanced in Diablo, but your wallpaper looks great :)

  2. I'm wondering if it's more efficient with 218 tris+UV layouts for each or with 2 tris and prerendered distorted UV-cooridinates texture.
here is my mock-up in blender http://www.pasteall.org/blend/20533
(animating mapping node doesn't work but manual changes do)

i guess it depends on what is less busy vertex shader or fragment shader

    2. Wow, thanks for taking the time to build this in Blender. How can i play the shader animation in Blender? I pressed the Play-Buttun, but nothing happened :,(

    3. as I said, animation with "mapping" node doesn't work (I don't know why because it should), so only way to see this is to manually change in "mapping" node location x and y, probably with shift button for more gentle manipulation

  4. Hi Simon!

I'm attempting a Wizard globe in UDK's material editor. Right now I've just been working on the diffuse portion, playing with the UV animations, tints, and how they overlay.

Wanna check it out? It's on my blog: http://solarnoise.tumblr.com/
